"If Creon hears this from another man, your head's as good as off" (132)

Do the citizens of Thebes really respect Creon? Are they more fearful of him?

  1. I believe that the people of are mainly afraid of him. The sentry reports reluctantly, and when he is leaving he states that Creon will never find him again.

    1. I agree--note also Haemon's reports of the "whispers" he's heard from citizens, who aren't of course willing to speak up to Creon themselves, about how the city sympathizes with Anigone and disagrees with Creon's edict.
